The Institute of Vocational Education and Work Studies exists since the year 2000 and consists of the chairs technical didactics of the vocational disciplines and work studies, and the specialist disciplines of work studies.


The chairs of the Vocational Education would like to invite you to the closing event "Last Wednesday of the semester" on Juli 15, 2015, 6 p.m. It will take place in room 1.049 in 23, Marchstraße.
Current research on technical didactics will be discussed and students' projects will be presented at the occasion of this event.  
Furthermore, the "Last Wednesday of the semester" offers you the possibility to establish new social contacts or exchange ideas in an informal get together.

From March 01, 2015 the chair ALÖNK hosts in cooperation with the BMBF (Federal Ministry of Education and Research) the project BiNKAEducation for Sustainable Consumption through Mindfulness Training. The project will run for three years and is funded by the BMBF with 835,000 euros.
At the "Semesterabschlussveranstaltung" (closing event of the semester) on February 03, 2015 at 4 p.m., Work Studies continues the tradition of presenting current semester projects. This semester's project topic was "Fixperts - projects made for you".

For the first time, there will be an award ceremony with a jury at the end of the event. Subsequently you will have the chance to get in touch with the students as well as the staff of the institute over a small snack celebrating semester's end. We would be pleased to welcome you!  
Reference lectures
On the occasion of finding an adequate candidate for the  professorship of the chair Technical Didactics Work Studies, there will be seven lectures on February 12 and 13, 2015 at the institute.

The department Vocational Education invites you to the "Last Wednesday of the semester" that will give you interesting insights into the subject-related didactical work of the students during the winter semester 2014/2015. The event will take place on Wednesday February 11, 2015 at 5.45 p.m. in the rooms MAR 1.049 and MAR 1.050 on the first floor (23, Marchstraße). Go to the program.
As every year, there will be the possibility for an informal  get together after the presentations to establish new social contacts and develop ideas for future projects.

GaLaBau 2014 – 21st international trade show for urban green and open spaces 
From September 17 - 20, 2014 7. – 20. September the chair Bautechnik und Landschaftsgestaltung together with the specialist discipline Vocational Education will exhibit at the GaLaBau 2014. With 1,155 exhibitors and 61,860 professional visitors the GaLaBau is the leading European trade show for gardening, landscaping and for the construction and maintenance of sports grounds, golf courses and children's playgrounds
With the Semesterabschlussveranstaltung (closing event of the summer semester) on July 18, 2014 at 4 p.m., a long tradition will be continued. The seminar topic was "From the window sill to the garden"   

Long Night of Sciences 2014
On May 10, 2014 TU Berlin will open up the doors with 240 different items on the program of the Long night of sciences 2014. The „House of education" (23, Marchstr.) will be presenting various projects as well. From 7.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. there will be a panel discussion
"Wirtschaft-Arbeit-Technik (WAT) – a school subject with a future!"

with Hildegard Bentele, Sigrid Egidi-Fritz, Reinhold Hoge, Prof. Dr. Angela Ittel, Anett Sahland, Prof. Dr. Rita Süssmuth und Doro Zinke.

That was the Long Night of Sciences 2014!



Once again the Institute of Vocational Education and Work Studies has many offers on the occasion of this year's Long Night of Sciences.

On June 13, 2015 between 5 p.m. and midnight there will be possibilities to test electrical vehicles, build a bridge out of spaghetti, learn about research on socio-ecologic consumption or extend one's knowledge in gardening.

We are more than happy to host the Teeniecampus for the first time in our institute.

Additionally there will be talks and discussions about the following topics:

  • Vocational education included - what to talk about?
  • Inclusion in vocational schools
  • Berlin "Oberstufenzentren" introduce themselves
  • Technical Didactics Engineering and Landscape Gardening
  • How we will be learning - digital media in the field of vocational training
  • WAT at secondary schools!
  • History of the school and study subject Work Studies/WAT
